Sponge Geometry and Wound Contact
The sponge is trimmed with sterile scissors to match the wound bed, and thickness decides how much collapse the foam takes before the pores close. Open-cell polyurethane transmits negative pressure evenly across the whole contact area and lifts exudate away from the surface, which is what lets granulation tissue fill the defect.Seal, Film and Tubing Integrity
A dressing only works while it stays sealed. The semi-permeable film blocks bacteria but passes vapour, so moisture does not lift the adhesive edge. The drainage tube carries an external suction cup to resist blockage and a breaking force of at least 20N, and its bending radius holds up when the patient moves in bed.Indications and Replacement Cycle
Kits are indicated for post-surgical sutured wounds, mechanical trauma such as crush and avulsion injuries, incision wounds and superficial second-degree burns. One application maintains effective drainage for five to seven days, and the change is scheduled by exudate volume rather than by calendar alone. Chronic wounds sit outside this indication.

YD I includes an irrigation tube for simultaneous instillation and drainage, which suits infected or heavily exuding wounds. YD II drains without irrigation. Both models accept every sponge size in the range, so the choice is made on the wound rather than on stock.
Five to seven days of effective drainage under a normal exudate load. Replacement follows the wound assessment: if the foam stiffens, the film lifts or drainage drops off, the dressing is changed earlier regardless of the calendar.
